Watch the video above to discover why I decided to create the OChem Bootcamp, after seeing too many students struggle with little support.
Now is your chance to join my OChem Bootcamp and make Organic Chemistry your best subject:
Does this sound familiar: you look at your lecture notes, read a section of the textbook and think.. "ok, that makes sense". You try a problem.
"Too easy, this is straight out of the notes!"
And another problem..
"OK, that's fine, I've still got this!"
And then BAM! Question 3...
"Wait a sec, I thought I had this..."
Maybe the question doesn't seem much different, but the answer you get is not what is on the answer sheet.
Or, more often - there's no answer given, you don't know where to start, and there's no-one around to help!
Motivation: killed. Confidence: shattered.
Could it make or break your future career? Does it mean the difference between getting into med school, veterinary science or dentistry?
What if Organic Chemistry wasn't something you worried about, but became a badge of honor? Could it be the difference between just scraping by and landing a spot in your dream school? Also, imagine the confidence boost of having mastered a subject that many call the 'weed out' course!
You have great intentions to study. You sit down to dive into some problems, but uh-oh, where to start?
In the OChem Bootcamp, I'll give you step-by-step strategies for how to tackle all types of organic chemistry problems.
Office Hours?!.. What Office Hours?
Your Professor has Office Hours... apparently. Maybe you need to enter a parallel universe to actually get in. Or does your work clash with the times available? Or perhaps you can make it to office hours, but you get the same explanations that didn't make any sense during class time.
The OChem Bootcamp includes Office Hours. They're highly flexible and fit around your other commitments.
More Problems, More Solutions
You tackle the problems your Professor gives you, and you try the ones from the textbook, but you need more, and you need thorough worked answers, so you can see if you got it right, or where you might have gone astray.
The OChem Bootcamp, includes practice problems with written or video worked answers or both. They're customized to suit your needs.
Being Busy Without Making Progress
It's not that you aren't studying. You're sitting in front of your computer, your notes, the textbook a lot! You can study all day long, but at the end of the day, it still just hasn't 'clicked'.
In the OChem Bootcamp, I will teach you the most effective study methods to make things 'click'.
As a student in Organic Chemistry, you face challenging work. The pace at which new concepts are delivered is daunting and the difficulty of problems escalates rapidly. Too much information, too many concepts, too little time.
In the OChem Bootcamp, you'll master the key concepts that make everything else fall into place.
Harsh, but true. If you're looking for help with organic chemistry, and get a tutor for a budget price, you'll likely get a budget experience! And private tutoring with an experienced, PhD-trained organic chemist is expensive.
The OChem Bootcamp gives you high quality coaching in organic chemistry and personalized support when you need it most. You can avoid the major expense of hiring a tutor.
The OChem Bootcamp is an online course with interactive support. After your purchase, once the course launches, you will be able to log in to an online dashboard, where you can access the Bootcamp content and resources:
Video Tutorials on key concepts
Practice Problems and Worked Answers
Private Discussion Forum
The OChem Bootcamp is a suitable companion for any Organic Chemistry 1 or 2 course. Furthermore the Bootcamp includes one 30-minute exam preparation session in the lead-up to your final exam.

Hi, I'm Dr. Mark Coster. My 20+ year obsession with Organic Chemistry took me from an undergraduate BSc Hons (Class I) in sunny Brisbane to the University of Cambridge for a PhD. There, I fell in love with the challenge of total synthesis - building up a complex organic molecule from simple building blocks. I returned to Australia, to do a postdoc in organic synthesis at the Australian National University. From there, I moved to The University of Sydney to start an independent career as a teaching and research academic.
After a few years in bustling Sydney, I moved back to my home town of Brisbane to take up a research-focused position at Griffith University in a Drug Discovery institute. In later years at Griffith University, my teaching involvement increased and I began to experiment with new methods and new technologies for my teaching. I was excited by the possibilities, but competing demands of research and administration left me with little time to really explore new innovations.
In 2018, I decided to embark on a bold new venture and focus on helping students of Organic Chemistry more directly, in a way that could never achieve while still in a University role. Hence, Organic Chemistry Explained was born! My goal is to help as many students as possible, across the globe, to achieve success in Organic Chemistry.
The course is targeted for students having finals in May-June 2019. The live components, eg. Office Hours and Live Sessions will finish, by June 30, 2019. The video tutorials will be available to students until December 31st, 2019.
I will do my best to create live sessions for different time zones. But, if you can't join in a session, you'll still be able to access a replay at any time, and there will also be opportunities to ask your questions on the forum or during Office Hours.
Any desktop computer, laptop or tablet device with webcam and microphone will do. While it is also possible to join in using your smartphone, the small screen size may make it difficult to see fine details, eg. structures, mechanism arrows. Depends how big your phone is and how good is your eyesight!
If you don't find the course useful, just send me an email asking for a refund and you'll get your money back. My aim is to provide so much value to you, that you feel it was a worthwhile investment well before we ever get to finals!
I am planning to give you so much help and support that this won't be the case! However, if you find that, part-way through the bootcamp, you need even more individual assistance, there are options to do extra Office Hours, or discuss a private tutoring arrangement.
The Bootcamp is entirely online, with no in-person component.
